If you're looking to make alterations to your property there are several there are several things to consider:

  • Ensure you have written permission - Gain this from your landlord and/or the developments management team before work commences, especially where the external appearance of the building may change. In these instances like-for-like parts and materials must be sought. If you don't have permission, you may have to pay for the work to be undone.
  • Ensure your suppliers are suitable - They should be able to provide a method statement showing that they work to HSE standards, proof of relevant qualifications and copies of relevant insurance. This should cover items such as public liability and working at height.
  • Minimise disruptions - Talk to your supplier to make sure they can reduce noise and waste in communal spaces around the development. As well as looking unsightly, items and waste left in communal areas can present a health and safety risk so they must be removed. Arranging the removal of waste yourself is often cheaper than the charge you may incur for leaving it on site.
